After talking to a few people we said that we´d cut out the North of Thailand and just fly into Laos and a wise choice it turned out to be. We flew into Luang Prabang and in the taxi from the airport to the guesthouse kids on every corner threw water over us. It turned out that we had arrived in Laos during the New Year celebrations, which is a country wide water fight and yes adults partake. Throwing basin after basin of water over complete strangers, who were either driving by on mopeds or in open cars, is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Being allowed to walk up to a tourist carrying their belongings and drowning them is a truely spiritual experience. The best part is tha´s it´s for good luck and no one gets angry at you Luang Prabang is an amazingly chilled out place. At night the main street shuts off traffic and turns into a street market. There´s street markets all over South East Asia but this is the only one we saw with a bit of class.You pick a fish to BBQ, gorge through a veg buffet and all for lass than 3 dollars.
