Since he had to work Tuesday and Wednesda during the day, I'd wander around some of the historical sites, meet him for lunch, then wander around town a bit more. There's a cool old fortress there that's like 1600 years old, and nearby are some tombs from the royal families of that era. The tombs are interesting because they essentially look like grassy mounds, but have little doors on the front. They're surprisingly simple inside, considering the amount of power their residents wielded during their lives. There was also another museum nearby that talked more about the local history, going back about 2000 years or more. I think I did pretty well navigating around town without any maps, and with the street signs being only in Korean. A few times I got a little turned around but always got back on track pretty quickly. We ate lots of Korean food, and I was surprised to find that a lot of it is essentially Japanese food with Korean names. (But don't tell them that!) In the evenings, we hung out in front of "Buy the Way", a local convenience store with "the scooter club," a group of English teachers Mike is friends with.
